Group Lipreading Courses

Do You Offer Group Online Lipreading Courses To US Residents?

Lipreading Classes to USA Students are occasionally offered over Zoom, and are organised only when sufficient interest is generated. These  classes will follow the same structure as lipreading courses offered in the UK. Classroom size is limited &  spaces are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. When classes are full, this will be indicated on this website. These lipreading classes can only be run when there are enough people signed up, so if you can, try to convince some of your friends/colleagues to join in. Enquiries from groups/charities are most welcome.

This website is for USA-based lipreading students. In the UK? Follow this link: Lipreading classes UK

Please contact me to register your interest. Please be sure to mention where you are (which state), your type of hearing loss (if any) and anything else you think maybe pertinent. There is no guarantee that a class will be available, or even running at a time to suit everybody.

Are Private Lipreading Classes Better Than Group Classes?

Private lipreading Classes suit most people better than group classes, but it really depends on your individual learning style, your motivation and your budget. Learning one-to-one is more demanding (and expensive), since you are the only student in the room. Group classes offer the opportunity to meet other people with similar types of hearing loss, and share experiences. This aspect of deaf/hearing loss society is an important part of lipreading classes in the UK. Progress is undoubtedly swifter when you are learning 1-1 in a dedicated classroom environment, but at some stage you may wish to move onto a group class so that you can get more experience of other people's lip patterns. At this stage, you might find that a beginner's course is not suitable, so you may be looking for  an intermediate/advanced lipreading group.
